And so the Media (Time Magazine) names the most influential people of 2009
I don’t know that I can stand to even go through some of these. So, I’m going to just list them until I run up on one I feel qualified to discuss. Then, after that, I’ll move on to the next person in the next post. So, here goes, how you can stand it…
Edward Kennedy or Uncle Eddy as they call him. The Lion of the Senate, a liberal icon, a warrior for the less fortunate and a fierce advocate for health-care reform. Ok, sure, he deserves to be on this list in my opinion.
Gordon Brown. I have no idea who he is. Skipping him. I’m still not sure he belongs on this particular list.
Christine Lagarde, the first female Finance Minister of an G-8 Nation. I give up, why?
Thomas Dart, another one I just don’t get. Add in Avigdor Lieberman and yea, this list of unknowns for me is growing rapidly. Here’s a good one, a druglord named Joaquin Guzman and since he escaped from prison near Guadalajara, it’s odd to see that the U.S. is offering a $5 million reward for his capture. ARGH! U.S. Funds….argh!
Nouri al-Maliki is the first Iraqi Prime Minister under the new constitution. Eh, I still don’t know so much about him.
And, ahhhh finally someone I feel qualified to comment on. Hillary Clinton, but wait, how did she make the influential list. As I understand it, she has the essential qualities of intelligence, eloquence and wait. She is a fighter for causes that count and regardless of whether people agreed with her, they’ve mostly listened to her to see what she had to say. Ok, sold on this one.
