More Time Magazine
Ok, so Meredith Whitney was a little known analyst at Oppenhemier & Co and put a sell rating on Citigroup which was trading above $30 share. She was denounced immediately but now, 16 months later, after tends of billions of dollar’s worth of taxpayer bailouts failed to stop the bleeding, Citi stock is trading below $1 a share. That one call made her a legend in her business.
Ok, Suze Orman is not an ordinary woman but she isn’t your Suzy Sunshine either as Time calls her. Supposedly she sleeps hours a night because she thinks the world is too exciting to turn it off. He listen to the stock market reports while watching the waves crash on her Florida front. Other than that, not sure what put her here..
Ok and this photo of Lauren Zalanick just makes me want to stop right here and go no further. I read enough to understand she is a businesswoman. Now, moving right along. We get to the U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. He got a rocky start but has his hands covered with bank rescue plans and far-reaching regulatory reform as well as handling the auto-industry bail-out. Ok, taken.
Nandan Nilekani – nope, not even reading past the second sentence which again mentions a movie, Slumdog Millionaire. And, Stella McCartney. Supposedly her looks are considered chick and that she works hard to create fashion icons yet manages to stay home with 3 beautiful children. Oh, yea, that last part is way harder than creating any chic clothing line, trust me.
Jamie Dimon, no clue, not even reading to see. Sheila Bair had a hand in our financial affairs so most definitely I’m giving her props for that. Otherwise, I’m moving right along…..
Here’s one I should have known about but didn’t. Moot is all you know about his name. He is the mysterious 21-year-old creator of the influential Web message board 4chan.org which won Time.com’s online poll to determine the most influential people. Ok, but I still never heard of him. Yet another I’m skipping right over, Alexander Medvedev. And, another Alan Mulally. And, I’m skipping Robin Chase too.
Ok, I’m skipping a lot of them now but Jack Ma is another one that I’m just going to let go right on by me. As is Bernie Madoff. Ok Time, let’s go here, pick it up. Ah Rush Limbaugh, I just wrote about him yesterday on my own personal blog. Basically I”m not so sure about influential but definitely mouthy.
And, apparently this young lady known as M.I. A. didn’t set out to be influential so I’m skipping right on by her too, mmkay? This is pretty interesting, Sam and Dan Houser who are apparently the inventors of Grand Theft Auto, something I know even less about than I do Rush Limbaugh, make the list too. Skipping right along now.
Ahhh Kate Winslet. Now, I’ll admit, I have to read to see exactly what made her influential enough to make this list but I’m reading. Basically she impressed the crew at Time with her fierce intelligence, her mature view of the world and her courage as an actor. Yea, ok, I’m taking Kate for $1000
