Will the Media Follow Up?

Most of you must have heard by now that Paris Hilton has been released from jail and allowed to languish her remaining jail time in a huge mansion with servants. The reports keep saying that she served five days, but the truth is she served just three full days and a couple of snippets.
The reports say that she was released because she didn’t like the food, was cold, and she kept crying. So they released her following a visit by her psychiatrist and (not surprising) her attorney. Considering the enormous brouhaha that was made when she was preparing to go to jail and all the promises she made about serving her time, not asking for special favors, etc. it will be very interesting to see if the media follows up and keeps digging until the reasons for her release are a matter of public record.
Jail is, from what I’ve heard, supposed to be unpleasant. It’s supposed to be cold, uncomfortable, and have bad food. I guess that’s why it’s called jail rather than a Caribbean vacation. I’m wagering that if Paris’s name had been Juanita Flores, or Carrie Nelson or some other name that isn’t in the press daily, that she would not have found a very sympathetic ear when she started whining about not wanting to eat a hot dog. Now let’s see if the media holds the authorities’ feet to the fire and find out exactly why this spoiled brat heiress was let out because she pitched a temper tantrum whereas Ms. Nobody in Particular would have served their entire sentence and been told to shut up and stop complaining.
